Chinese Pepper is appreciated for its delicate green foliage and finely textured canopy. Its shaped outline offers a form to maintain and refine over time. It is supplied in an approximately 20cm pot.
This tree offers an appealing miniature-tree silhouette and opportunities for gentle shaping. We use the provisional name Zanthoxylum sp. while the exact species remains unconfirmed.
Choose a very bright position with good airflow. A bright indoor space or frost-free conservatory is the cautious choice in colder weather. A sheltered outdoor position can be used in settled warm conditions after gradual acclimatisation.
Water thoroughly when the upper soil layer begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain. Check the soil rather than following a fixed watering timetable.
Feed moderately during active growth, following the fertiliser instructions. Trim extending shoots gently to preserve the canopy, and avoid substantial root or branch work while the tree is settling in.
Keep frost-free with plenty of light, away from drying heaters and cold draughts. Adapt watering to slower growth and the conditions where the tree is kept.
One Chinese Pepper bonsai in the pot described above. A drip tray is not included unless specifically included in a purchased option. Photographs are representative; trunks, branches, foliage and overall shape vary naturally between trees.
