First Glance — A One-of-a-Kind Brooch

Created as one of only five finalist pieces in the Wartski Brooch Competition in collaboration with The King’s Trust, First Glance is a unique design that has already captured attention at the highest level of the jewellery world.

The brooch was displayed in Wartski’s prestigious St James’s window and judged by Joanna Hardy — internationally respected jewellery expert and familiar face from BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. This recognition places the piece within a tradition of excellence and craftsmanship celebrated worldwide.

At first sight, First Glance radiates with a bold, approachable energy. Its bright enamel and polished silver invite curiosity and joy. Yet, on closer inspection, its heart is revealed — a hand-carved anatomical black onyx centrepiece. Dark, absorbing, and unexpected, it contrasts with the playful glow around it, symbolising mystery, emotion, and the depth within us all.

Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver (rhodium plated) and finished with enamel resin and carved black onyx, this brooch is entirely one-of-a-kind — never to be reproduced.
